Requirements for Food Vendors

There are 2 options for selling food in Schertz Civic Center:

Indoor Food Vendors

Vendors selling/giving food from a temporary setting will be required to apply, pay for and follow temporary event requirements. The checklist will be provided to each vendor but is also attached here. Instructions on how to apply are attached.

Food Truck

A vehicle-mounted, self-propelled, self-contained food service operation designed to be readily moveable has 2 options. 

  1. Schertz mobile food unit permit- cost $175 annually from October 1- September 30th. No prorating is allowed. Vendors must apply, pay for, and be inspected prior to the event by both the fire marshal and health inspector. Appts are made on regular business days. Requirements are sent upon request.

  2. Reciprocity program- cost- FREE. Under Schertz municipal code, the City will recognize any other jurisdiction mobile food permit by waiving inspection and any fee. Registration is required. Applications can only be accepted via email to healthinspector@schertz.com and take 2 business days to process. If a vendor wants to apply for this registration program they must do so within 1 week of registering for the event. Applications submitted after that may not be approved in time for the event. Vendors must apply and pay for permits online only through the City of Schertz Web Portal. No in-person applications can be accepted. If you have any questions please reach out to the health inspector's email address to healthinspector@schertz.com
